About

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Welcome to Byzantium on Brew. My name in Nelson and I am from San Diego, CA. By day, I am a financial aid professional. I’m also a husband and a father.

I am a convert to Catholicism from Anglicanism via Eastern Orthodoxy. I am the Director of Religious Education at Holy Angels Byzantine-Ruthenian Catholic Church.

The title of this blog has two inspirations. One: It was the name of a short-lived young adults meeting we had at local coffee shops. (a take on Theology on Tap) Two: I am a coffee fanatic. I find coffee to be the perfect drink for most occasions in life. I happen to think discussing and reflecting on Theology goes well with a strong cup of coffee.

A friend and fellow blogger, The Restless Pilgrim, suggested having a patron saint for particular blogs. I’ve selected two. St. John Paul II, since his writings were instrumental in my own conversion, and Pope Clement VIII. Why?  Simple: He blessed coffee!

In your charity pray for me.

  1. Dear brother, thank you for this beautiful blog. My family and I came into full communion with the Catholic Church through the ministry of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Greek Catholic Mission in Raleigh NC nearly two years ago. I look forward to reading more. God bless!
