On Sunday morning, I learned that a priest friend of mine passed away. Fr. Wesley Izer was the rector of the Byzantine Catholic Cathedral of St. Stephen in Phoenix, AZ. A few weeks ago I had spent some time with Fr. Wes at the L.A. Religious Education Conference. So it took me by surprise to hear of his sudden passing. He seemed happy and healthy at our last meeting.
I will always remember Fr. Wes for his warm smile and hug whenever he greeted me at our infrequent meetings. Funeral services will be conducted during Bright Week at the Cathedral parish.
In blessed repose, grant, O Lord, eternal rest to Your servant the priest, Wesley, and may his memory be eternal.
